Frog Joe

A complete managed code forge for your team.

Abstract

Your team gets a Git forge of their own: repositories, issues, pull requests and CI, on a dedicated Forgejo server.

CI runners are included and automatically configured. Moving to Forgejo Actions is easy.

You pay one flat monthly price, with no per-seat fee. We run the server, so there is nothing for you to install, patch or watch.

1. Purpose

Most Git hosting services run one large installation for all their customers and charge for every person who signs in. Running your own forge avoids both, and gives you a server to patch, upgrade and watch.

Frog Joe sits between the two. Each organization gets its own Forgejo server, on its own machine and storage, operated by us. The price is per forge, not per person.

2. System description

A forge is a Forgejo server on a dedicated server. It answers at acme.frogjoe.dev over HTTPS, and over SSH for Git. Jobs from Forgejo Actions run in a runner pool that belongs to that forge alone. Each job starts on a new machine, which is destroyed when the job ends.

3. Capabilities

3.1 Dedicated server

Every forge is its own Forgejo server, on its own machine.

3.2 HTTPS and SSH

Clone and push over HTTPS or SSH. Each forge has its own IPv4 address for Git.

3.3 Managed runners

Forgejo Actions jobs run on runners we operate. Every job gets a new machine.

3.4 Sign-in

Members sign in with Google or Microsoft. The Scale tier adds your own identity provider.

3.5 Closed by default

Visitors who are not signed in see only the forge's sign-in page.

3.6 No seats

Add every member of your team. The price does not change.
